Our Staff

Shad's Custom Countertops, Inc. began in March of 1997 as a one man shop in Portland.  Shad Hall, President and Owner, started the business after returning from Active Duty, serving four years in the U.S. Army.  In 1999, the business had grown enough that Shad began hiring employees and moved the shop to Windham.  By 2003, Shad had purchased his own building in order to have the space to keep up with his growing business.  After two expansions at our current location on Collins Pond Road in Windham, Shad's has come a long way from a one man shop!

Shad spends most of his spare time with his wife and their seven year old son, Jake.  Shad and Jake are both outdoor enthusiasts.  This winter you might see them up to Sugarloaf where the family skis every weekend!

This January Shad was elected as the VP of Strategic Planning and the Golf Outing Chair for Maine's Chapter of the NKBA.

Shad is also very involved in the community as a Board member and Founder of the Shad's Custom Countertops Patriot 5k Lap Around the Lake, which raised over $9,000 in its inaugural year for the Patriot Parents who support school enrichment programs for Gray-New Gloucester Schools.

Shad is also a Board member of the Gray Little League and is the VP of Sponsorship.  Shad's Custom Countertops sponsors a team and Shad is a coach as well.

Shad's Custom Countertops was the Cosponsor of the 1st annual KTP Crystal Lake Kids Derby. Between the kids' and the any age derbies, we helped raise over $50,000 with the proceeds going to the USO, Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife, and the Patriot Parents.  There were over 4,000 people in attendance including Governor LePage and Ray Bourque.

Matt Estes has been with Shad's for almost ten years, starting in 2001 as one of the guys picking up the slack in the shop.  Matt has grown with Shad and is now one of the most knowledgeable Solid Surface Fabricators around.  In addition to being a talented fabricator, he is also our Shop Foreman.

Ryan Bean is working on his sixth year with Shad's and after extensive personal growth he is our lead Solid Surface Installer.  In addition to templating and installing, Ryan also fabricates the tops in the shop.  In his spare time Ryan enjoys what many young guys do- cars, dirt bikes, and hanging out with his friends and fiance. 

Andy Edgecomb came to Shad's in 2006 with over three years experience as lead solid surface fabricatior at his former job.  Now our shop and our customers have the benefit of two highly experienced fabricators.

Tarsha King joined the Shad's family in late 2007 as our Office Manager.  She now plays an important role in the everyday workings of the office and shop.  Tarsha's background includes a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Southern Maine and four years combined experience in wholesale countertops sales and kitchen design support.  In Tarsha's spare time she enjoys spending time with friends and family, especially her two nephews!

Matt Haskins joined Shad's in April 2008.  Originally from New York, he's acquired the nickname, "Upstate."  He is the newest addition to our solid surface team.  He has caught on quickly with fabrication and is now helping our lead installer on the road.

Curtis Soucy started at Shad's in May of 2008 as our countertop delivery driver.  When he's not delivering he's either fabricating tops or helping the Solid Surface template and install team.  Depending on the season, you'll find him hunting, ice fishing, or canoeing in his spare time!
